Stereotaxic Instrument

Stereotaxic Instrument

Stereotaxic instrument, also known as stereotaxic apparatuses, utilize a three-dimensional coordinate system based on external cranial landmarks or other reference points to locate specific subcortical neural structures. This enables targeted manipulation—such as stimulation, lesioning, drug injection, and electrical potential recording—without direct visual exposure of deep brain regions.

As essential equipment in neuroanatomy, neurophysiology, neuropharmacology, and neurosurgery, these instruments support a wide range of applications. These include establishing animal models of Parkinson’s disease, epilepsy, and intracranial tumors, as well as research on learning and memory, neural stem cell transplantation, cerebral ischemia, and other neurological processes.
